A couple of questions, answered...

What is Podiatry or Chiropody?
It is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower leg. Podiatry has been practised since the ancient Egyptians (See following link for more info: Podiatry Wikipedia).

What is the difference between Podiatry and Chiropody?  There is no difference, Podiatry is the international name for the treatment, and Chiropody is the old English name.

A large range of Podiatry & Chiropody treatments are offered by
Footprints to care for your feet. Some examples are listed below:

Corn & callus removal:
Callus (or hard skin) is unsightly and uncomfortable. If left it can crack or develop into painful corns. Corns and callus can be painlessly removed. Your feet will feel brand new.

Verrucae treatment:
Verrucae (also known as plantar warts) are caused by a virus that can spread in communal areas (i.e. changing rooms and showers).  Treatment reduces spread of infection. A course of treatment may be required for a full cure.

Nail problems:
An ingrown nail can be very painful and should be treated immediately; it may also require an antibiotic if an infection is present. Thick or fungal nails can also be painful and are difficult to cut. These can be maintained and treated to give relief.

Regular routine care:
A maintenance treatment to care for your feet and leave you with "heavenly soles". You don’t need to have particular problems to benefit from this treatment. Regular care prevents problems arising in the future.

Whatever it is e.g. a piece of glass or grit, it needs to be carefully removed and relief from the pain of a splinter is usually felt immediately.

Footprints also offers Orthotics
Orthotics are supports that sit inside your shoes to improve biomechanics and joint positions.  Many people have had a biomechanical condition all their life, pronation for example, and it does not become apparent until they increase their activity and find a painful problem

Examples of conditions that are successfully treated with Orthotics are:

• pronation
• knee problems
• shin splints
• foot and ankle aches and pains
• legs of unequal length
• plantar fasciitis & heel spur
• Morton's neuroma
• corns or callus

Orthotics are widely recommended by GPs, orthopaedic specialists, physiotherapists and osteopaths for the relief of pains that have a biomechanical cause
